Toft Win the Boddingtons Trophy

Toft won the Boddingtons Trophy when they beat Cheadle Hulme on faster run-rate in a rain spoiled final at Heaton Mersey in September.

Peter West at League Dinner

Broadcaster and author Peter West was principle speaker at the League’s successful Presentation Dinner at the Cresta Court Hotel, Altrincham, in October.

Match Highlights

Toft beat Christleton in the Village KO, chasing 122-8 Alan Stimpson (59) and Richard Hardstaff (38) put on 96 for the 1st wicket in only 14 overs. Rob Ashley finished the game with a6 that went flying out of the ground in only the 19th over of the game.

Toft in reply to Winnington Parks 175-6 got off to the best possible start with Alan Stimpson slaughtering the opening attack with some dazzling stroke play. By the time he was on 43 his opening partner Richard Hardstaff had only faced two balls.

The ‘Road to Lords’ commemorative book raised over £1000

The club had to repay the Cricketer Magazine £3000 to replace the cup which was stolen.

The Social Committee handed over a cheque for £500

The Taverners also handed over a cheque for £500

Adam Caro resigned from Committee and 1st XI Vice captain due to a possible move abroad

Replaced by Peter Watson for committee and Ron Locke as 1st XI Vice Captain

Steven Wood would not be seeking re-election to the committee for 1991

Ron Lock and John Bacon finished 1st and 2nd in the League bowling averages taking 151 wickets between them at a joint average of 13.33 and bowling 813 overs
